Sketches Now Available for Spring
I’ve finally added these quick portrait sketches to my store. I’ve offered them as both framed and unframed pigmented ink prints — something else totally new. There’s four in the store, right now, to choose from. The pigmented ink prints are professionally printed on sturdy, archival mat paper. The premium aluminum frames are white with oversized white mats and glass glazing. So beautiful. And, I mat and frame them for you so you receive artwork that’s already ready to hang.
The Creative Process
I crazy love making these quickly sketched line art portraits. I think they are so quirky and I talk about them being the greatest, a lot, but really — pencil, paper, source or no source and I’m making faces that have never existed anywhere before but on that paper.
A line here, some connecting lines, some continuous, working at a level of concentration that always force me to wonder which was better — the continuous line or the connecting, the pencil, the Sharpie marker, or the Copic…Until, I no longer push all my sketches in the pitch pile, and finally stop wondering what’s best, and silently decide just to let go and keep doing what I’m doing.
I really struggled to share them, wondering would anyone find them as interesting as me? They are far from being, um, refined. But what now? Let them sit in a pile in the paper tray until I have to pack them in a big gold envelope and file them away so they won’t get tossed in the trash.
No…these portraits look chic hung together.
I have more sketches to put in the sketchbook and in my available artwork in the shop, but I want to make some more now that I’ve made this graphic for them that I’m using on the homepage. Maybe I’ll just sketch a few more tomorrow… ♥ ♥ ♥
